Solar Electrical Construction

Electrical construction for utility-scale and commercial solar facilities. MV collection systems, inverter pad wiring, combiner boxes, string wiring, step-up transformers, substations, and grid interconnection. We handle the electrical scope from the array through the point of interconnection. We do not install the racking or the panels. We build the electrical system that collects the power and delivers it to the grid.

MV Collection System

Underground MV cable from inverter pads to the generation substation. Trenching, conduit installation, cable pulling, termination, and splicing. Miles of cable across the site, all routed, installed, and tested per the engineer's design.

Combiner boxes, string wiring at 1500VDC, and DC home runs from the array to the inverters. NEC 690.12 rapid shutdown compliance where required. This is high-volume repetitive work that requires organization and quality control. Every connection matters when there are thousands of them across the site.

Inverter Pads and Transformer Installation

Inverter pad construction, inverter wiring, and step-up transformer installation at the inverter level. MV switchgear at each inverter pad where the design requires it. AC output wiring from the inverters to the MV collection system.

Transformer setting, oil processing where required, and electrical termination. We handle the receiving, rigging, and connection of this equipment. Pad-mount and three-phase transformers sized for the inverter output.

Substation and Interconnection

Generation substation construction for solar facilities. Main step-up transformer, MV and HV switchgear, protective relaying, SCADA, control building, and utility tie-in. This is the same substation scope we perform on utility projects, applied to solar generation.

We coordinate with the utility and the transmission owner on interconnection requirements. Revenue metering, relay coordination, communication architecture. We build the physical infrastructure that connects the solar facility to the grid.

Testing and Commissioning

Ambrose Power Field Services provides NETA-certified testing and commissioning for solar electrical infrastructure. MV cable testing, transformer acceptance testing, substation commissioning, and protective relay commissioning. Our technicians test the same collection systems and substations our construction crews build.
