Wind Farm Electrical Construction

Electrical construction for wind energy facilities. MV collection systems connecting turbines to the substation, underground cable installation, pad-mount transformer connections at the base of each turbine, fiber optic communication, and generation substation construction with grid interconnection. We do not install the turbines. We build the electrical infrastructure that connects them to the grid.

MV Collection System

Underground MV cable (typically 34.5kV) between turbine pads and the generation substation. Miles of cable, hundreds of splices and terminations. Pad-mount transformers at each turbine foundation connecting the turbine output to the collection system. Collection system grounding at every turbine location.

Wind farm collection systems are high-volume underground cable work. Trenching, cable installation, backfill, splicing, and termination repeated across dozens or hundreds of turbine locations. Organization, material management, and quality control at scale.

Communication and SCADA

Fiber optic cable installation (single-mode, armored) between turbines and the substation control building. Fiber splicing, termination, and testing. The communication backbone that allows the wind farm operator to monitor and control every turbine from a central location.

SCADA RTU wiring, meteorological tower instrumentation, communication equipment installation, and network termination. We install the physical communication infrastructure. The integrator handles the programming and commissioning.

Generation Substation and Interconnection

Full substation construction at the wind farm. Main power transformers, MV and HV switchgear, protective relaying, control building wiring, and tie-in to the transmission grid. This is utility substation construction applied to wind generation.

We coordinate with the transmission owner and the independent system operator on interconnection requirements. Revenue metering, protective relay installation, communication systems, and physical tie-in to the existing transmission infrastructure.

Testing and Commissioning

Ambrose Power Field Services provides NETA-certified testing and commissioning for wind farm electrical infrastructure. Collection system cable testing, transformer acceptance testing, substation commissioning, and protective relay testing. Our technicians test the same systems our construction crews install.
