Electrical Construction Capabilities

Ambrose Power Construction is an IBEW-signatory electrical contractor. Our voltage range covers 120V and controls, through and above 345kV. We build what the engineer designs. We do not design, engineer, or program. This page covers our construction capabilities across all markets we serve.

Voltage Range

Our work spans from 120V controls and relay wiring through and above 345kV transmission. Distribution systems from 4kV through 35kV. Transmission lines from 69kV through 345kV and above. Medium-voltage cable systems from 5kV to 35kV. High-voltage cable systems above 35kV. Controls, instrumentation, and protective relay wiring at every voltage level.

The voltage class changes from project to project. The quality standard does not. The same safety program, the same installation procedures, the same attention to detail whether we are pulling 15kV cable in a duct bank or stringing 345kV conductor on a transmission line.

Fleet

Bucket trucks, digger derricks, tension stringing equipment, crawler cranes, boom trucks, cable pulling rigs, reel trailers, and trenching equipment. Our crews show up with the tools and equipment to do the work.

Fewer delays, fewer coordination issues, and faster mobilization. When a project needs to start, we load up and go. Our fleet supports work across all our markets from utility line construction to industrial cable installation.

Foundation Types

Direct-embed poles, helical piles, drilled piers, spread footings, and concrete piers. We self-perform foundation work for structures, equipment pads, and substations. Foundation type depends on the engineer's design and soil conditions. We have experience with all of them.

Self-performed civil work keeps the project on one contract and one schedule. No waiting on a foundation subcontractor to mobilize. Our crews set the foundations and erect the structures in a continuous workflow.

Construction Methods

Overhead construction: new build and reconductor. Distribution pole lines through transmission lattice towers. Underground construction: direct-buried cable and concrete-encased duct bank systems. Substation construction: greenfield new builds and expansions of existing facilities.

Cable systems: MV cable from 5kV through 35kV and HV cable above 35kV. Stress cones, cold shrink, heat shrink, and premolded terminations. Instrumentation installation: field devices, instrument cable, and control panels. We install and terminate. We do not program.

Testing and Commissioning

Ambrose Power Field Services provides testing and commissioning for the same systems our construction crews build. NETA-certified technicians perform acceptance testing on cable systems, switchgear, transformers, protective relays, and grounding. One company from installation through energization.
